Roughly a year is the time it takes to build a new Korvet once all specifications are agreed on.
Built in aluminum under CE-A category this Dutch design yacht has all the qualities of a pocket sized exploration vessel enabling long sea voyages and living aboard in comfort and safety. Ideal for Northern European coastal and offshore waters, in every climate and all seasons. The Korvet14CLR – Compact Long Range – is a lean and mean machine designed for no- nonsense offshore cruising.
We call the version for the Americas the – Korvet50CLR – with adaptations to the electrical system to accommodate both 50Hz and 60Hz shore power supplies. Other adaptations include USA centric appliances for ease of maintenance and support.
In the summer of 2021 the first Korvet50CLR undertook the journey from Rotterdam to Nassau, via the Azores and Bermuda. The 1800Nm stretch between the Azores and Bermuda was covered in 9 days at an average speed of 9 knots, with fuel to spare.
Aluminium combines lightweight, high strength, and easy workability in one package. Aluminium is lighter and more durable than both steel and fiberglass, allowing for a ship that is faster, more fuel efficient and able to survive longer the rigors of ocean voyages and the test of time. One of the great advantages of aluminum is that it requires very little maintenance. The unpainted metal reacts with air to form Aluminium oxide, a hard protective coating that protects the underlying metal.
