Built in aluminum under CE-A category this Dutch design yacht has all the qualities of a pocket sized exploration vessel enabling long sea voyages and living aboard in comfort and safety. Ideal for Northern European coastal and offshore waters, in every climate and all seasons. The Korvet 14 CLR is a lean and mean machine designed for no- nonsense offshore cruising.
Her innovative round bilge hull design allows for higher cruising speeds than traditional displacement yachts are capable of. With a cruising speed of around 10 knots she is faster than any traditional displacement yacht while frugal in diesel consumption.
Over-engineered in many ways, the Korvet14CLR exceeds many of the demanding CE-A standards. The raw, unfinished aluminium hull – on the superstructure covered with 3M film – makes for a maintenance friendly yacht. A good wash down a few times a year is all she needs.
Redundancy in systems ensures that a Korvet always remains a stable and safe platform. Two watertight bulkheads plus one crash bulkhead at the forward end of the forepeak confine the possible ingress of water to a closed compartment. The heavy crash bulkhead is watertight and provides the first line of defence against any impact to the bow.
Aluminium combines lightweight, high strength, and easy workability in one package. Aluminium is lighter and more durable than both steel and fiberglass, allowing for a ship that is faster, more fuel efficient and able to survive longer the rigors of ocean voyages and the test of time. One of the great advantages of aluminum is that it requires very little maintenance. The unpainted metal reacts with air to form Aluminium oxide, a hard protective coating that protects the underlying metal.
